PRESS RELEASE
July 23, 2025
Coming off a successful inaugural season as the Ironwood Lumberjacks, the team’s management group has been immersed in an incredibly busy off season.
Today, team president, Sophia Lein, announced the addition of Ironwood native, Brett Richter as Media and Content Director for the Lumberjacks. Richter’s role with the team will include game recaps, coach and player interviews, human interest stories, and overall general Lumberjack content.
Head Coach of the Lumberjacks, Doug Lein, stated, “Having Brett join the team fills a void for our program. With his experience interviewing athletes in the snowmobile racing world, we are confident the transition to Junior A hockey will be a welcome addition to our overall presence.” Sophia Lein continued by stating, “Richter has demonstrated his skills by building a strong rapport with athletes, then sharing their stories in a very comfortable format for both the individual athlete and the viewing audience. We are excited to take this next step in promoting the Lumberjacks.”
When asked about the upcoming season, Richter said, “It is a new challenge, but I am very excited to get started. Having a respected, credible and competitive team competing in Canadian Junior Hockey League is a huge perk for the Ironwood/Hurley and surrounding area. Being able to join the Lein family and help promote the athletes, the Lumberjack team, the Junior A sport of ice hockey and the local region is a big honor. Thankfully, I have a few more weeks of summer to enjoy and then we hit the ground running.”
Richter recently retired after 35 years in the insurance business. He is the former owner of the Brookside Insurance Agency in Ironwood and currently resides in Hurley, WI with his wife, Sherry.
